  • flowering pink dogwood
  • interesting math lecture
  • kosher birthday cake at work (with fruit!)
  • velvety dark purple irises
  • farm share starting the first week of June! (last year it was the 2nd week, 2004 it was the 3rd week) (YAY!)
  • getting to the gym before work
  • making theater plans
  • chives with buds on them
  • time with friends
  • lilacs coming into bloom

Also, I learned I should only take a multivitamin with or after food, not first thing in the morning.

Which farm do you get your share from? I finally got around to getting one myself (Parker Farms) and I can't wait.

And my basil has sprouted!!

Red Fire Farm, and I've been very happy with them.

Congrats on getting a farm share! Eat in good health :-).

Ooh! Basil! Are you growing anything else?
(I haven't started organizing my porch at all, with all the hullaballoo for Pesach; it's on my list for "very soon," hopefully this weekend.)

Just the basil now. I'm still waiting for the first "true leaf". Though to be honest, I'm not sure I'll know it when I see it. So far, just the little leaf pairs.

I'm pretty clueless about all this, so I figure I'd aim for only having the potential to kill a few plants.

Herbs aren't too tricky; just remember to water them regularly if they're in pots, and with enough sunlight, they grow pretty well. If you're vigilant about pinching off the flowering stalks before they get too far along (well before flowering, that is), they'll grow more, rather than putting energy into their goal (flowers & seeds) rather than yours (leaves).

Agreed on the multivitamin. The only time I ever got sick while pregnant was when I took my vitamin first thing in the morning without food.

I was surprised at how quickly I felt nauseous, actually, and very glad I remembered the sesame water crackers I'd gotten; they felt like just the right thing.

I was also amazed -- it all happened within 10 minutes maximum.

Yeah, me too. And it was hardly likely to be my other morning pill (taken for a couple of years on an empty stomach).

D'oh! I'd meant to try taking the vitamin at night after dinner instead, but forgot last night. Oops.

Do your (both of your) vitamins contain iron? A lot of people react particularly to iron supplements.

Mine did. I found it was fine if I took it with food or before bed, but in the morning on any empty stomach? Asking for trouble.
