The new fridge has very different sounds compared to other fridges I have known. Unfortunately, a couple of them sound like someone's knocking to be let out.
Yay for owning flour!
Too much to do, not enough time to do it in. At least I'm getting some of the little tasks out of the way...
seventh dinner:
eggplant spread, chicken with tomato sauce cooked over leeks and matza, green salad with tomatoes and almonds, (I'm forgetting something), dried fruit, pineapple, chocolate
eighth dinner:
eggplant spreads, green salad with apples and almonds, roasted carrots and parsnips, roasted eggplant and tomato, a variety of cheeses, olives, salmon topped with wasabi, whitefish salad, flan, chocolate, pineapple
Finally made it to the temporary main library, housed in an old school building. It's amusing to have different classrooms for different bits of the library, with the gym housing whatever's left. Still a lot less space, though. I'm half-surprised that they haven't put more bookshelves in somewhere, perhaps the halls or something.
I had an armload of books on my way home, but was able to return an escaped ball to the little boys at the playground. Kid grins are the best.
Arisia next year won't be downtown, but will be in Cambridge, so just about as convenient for me. More, if I can snag permit-only parking near the hotel. Plus if I forget anything, it really is walking distance. Hm. I wonder if MIT has davening during January...
Maine! Tuesday I was in Maine for the first time as an adult. Pathetic, yes, that I hadn't been before. It's very pretty, with waves crashing into interestingly striated cliffs, and rocks to climb on, and ladybugs in odd places, and orange lichen, and rocks worn smooth by the water that are striped so they look like they have wood grain. And the impetus for me to drive so far, the chance to see some long-distance friends. Yay!
