"...invigorating skin mousse... dig in!" makes images the marketers didn't intend in my head. Ew.

Saturday is the last day Wordsworth will be open.

Ginger flowers don't look a thing like the rhizome.

This afternoon will be the official announcement, but it seems likely there will be a parade Saturday, in honor of the Vermilion Footcoverings.

I might have to find time tomorrow afternoon before Shabbat (a tricky thing, these days). Maybe I'll see you there.

Not unless you consider 50% off liquidation. :-)

I may have to make those ginger flowers into an icon. :)

And I love "Vermilion Footcoverings." :) It has assonance (well, nearly; a voiced labial fricative and an unvoiced labial fricative are pretty close to one another).

The flowers are really pretty, though the photo isn't nearly as nice as the ones on my dining room table.

Assonance sounds like it should cover some other anatomy. Especially if there are labial fricatives involved ;-)
(I knew I should've taken linguistics in college...)

Ahem. Glad you like "Vermilion Footcoverings." [Dave Barry moment] Wouldn't it be a good name for a band? [/Dave Barry]

labial fricatives

Much better name for a band...although it conjures up images of a fish dinner stewing in gravy, perhaps involving Ginger Flowers.

I think you mean consonance. Assonance is the repetition of vowel sounds. The v-f-v repetition is consonant, not assonant, and indeed quite lovely.

Your ginger is flowering? Cool!

Unfortunately, no. A friend brought me flowers Tuesday, choosing something both of us thought 'interesting', but neither of us could identify. Last night's guest was not florally challenged, and immediately told me they were ginger flowers. I can't quite imagine my little stalky plants would end up that lush in this non-tropical climate.

Aw :\ Still, how cool! (And from what I've read about growing ginger from culinary, grocery-store root, it doesn't produce very flashy blossoms anyway.)
