What a cool idea: putting art in windows of vacant store fronts. That's what they've done on Avery Street downtown, where there were a lot of vacant shops. A win for everyone, really (as long as it doesn't keep leases from starting, I suppose). It sounds like the city will continue to use this idea where there's a cluster of vacant places.
New theory about why West Nile virus swept across the country so fast: there's mosquito to mosquito transmission. That's just scary.
Tomorrow there's a Pride tea at work. I'm impressed that one orker has gone to the trouble of tracking down purple M&Ms (someone finally told her about the dark chocolate ones), then sorting them all by color so she can make rainbow bands of color on a sheet cake. I might make some bread, which feels rather lame in comparison. Maybe two batches of dough, one white (and a bit sweet), the other with cocoa powder, then make two-colored pull-apart loaves? Hm. Maybe.
Very cool boss, reason n + 1: not only did she tell me about the play at Zero Arrow, but she also gave me an email that will get me in for free. Yay!
ETA, 12:25 Two shehechiyanu fruits in the last week: cherries last night, (organic) apricots on Shabbat.
(And maybe the backyard neighbors will let me have some sour cherries again this year; the tree is already setting fruit.)
