Winter share, first distribution (of 4)
Nov. 9th, 2007 03:47 pmI was expecting a box of stuff, like last year, but this was pick stuff from bins and pack into bags. Must bring bags next time, and allow more time (on these short afternoons before Shabbat... oy).
I saw that there were numbers on the meter, so didn't check closer... and got a ticket. Dang.
On the plus side, I've roasted onions, red peppers, and zucchinis; baked a bunch of sweet potatoes; baked a mix of (previously baked) winter squashes with already sauteed onions, chickpeas, curry powder, cumin, nutmeg, ginger, black pepper, and cayenne. Plan is to make a cucumber salad (with lemon, feta, and mint), and possibly some quick egg dish (with cheese?).
Also plus: I saw the turkey around dusk in Kendall, moments after seeing a stuffed turkey in a bookstore window :-).
- a bunch of kale (I was in time for lacinato :-)
- two pounds of carrots
- a large celeriac
- a head of lettuce (red leaf for me)
- a stalk of Brussels sprouts
- a quarter-pound of mixed lettuce-y stuff (larger leaves than I'd call mesclun)
- a butternut squash
- two leeks
- two and a half pounds of sweet potatoes
