Boston Organics delivery

  • two big bunches of dandelion greens
  • a bunch of green Swiss chard
  • a bag of nine potatoes (five pounds?)
  • a bag of spring mix lettuces
  • a small bag (half a pound?) of sugar snap peas
  • five narrow stalks of broccoli
  • a green pepper (do they ever send other colors?)
  • a good-sized eggplant
  • seven roma tomatoes

Any suggestions for the dandelion greens? I sauteed them last time (with onion), and they were a bit too bitter for me straight like that.

The right thing to do with dandelion greens is make salads. :)

*grin*

Yes, but this is far more than I can eat in salads. Which is not to say that some won't end up in a salad bowl...

As it so happens, the theme ingredient in [livejournal.com profile] vegan_cookoff a couple of weeks ago was weeds, with most people opting for dandelion greens. The post with all the entries is here (http://www.livejournal.com/community/vegan_cookoff/3097.html).

Thank you! Lots of ideas to consider in there... (Now I need to figure out what I need to get to restock after Passover in order to try one or two of these!)

Add nuts. I find walnuts or almonds counteract bitterness in greens

Ooh, good idea! Thank you.

One of our CSA staples is greens with nuts and garlic, often over rice. I usually have four or more kinds of nuts in the house.

That sounds excellent. I have three or four kinds of nuts around myself, though for something like this, I tend to think more of walnuts or pine nuts, for their texture.

I dry them, and make tea - it's a wonderful diuretic.

Interesting. I'd never think of that.

These days, I haven't been drinking much tea (or non-water beverages, actually). I keep thinking I should drink more tea, but haven't quite managed it. Perhaps with the weather getting warmer, I'll make iced tea...

I've been taking Burdock Root capsules, and Dandelion Greens tea - instead of taking Lasiks for the water retention. It does the trick!

Cool!

I'm on a diuretic already, actually, for blood pressure.
