Shabbat lunch

  • rolls, grape juice

  • polenta rounds with roasted zucchini and beets
  • cucumber salad with feta, lemon zest, lemon juice, chives, and mint
  • salmon topped with cranberry chutney
  • slices of baked sweet potato
  • dry-fried string beans with garlic oil and tarragon vinegar
  • green salad with spinach, arugula, tomatoes, and walnuts
  • edit rice with zaatar /edit
  • sour cherry and chocolate chunk bread (When Pigs Fly)
  • applesauce

I was going to make rice, but have run out of time :-(.

For those in Camberville who care: the eruv is down this week.

Actually, I dashed home from the last errand in time to make rice; I was worried there wasn't enough food because there isn't necessarily a ton of each dish, and we are now five for lunch (as of Wednesday midday, it was two). I'd rather have a bit too much than feel like I didn't make enough, or feel like someone would have eaten more had I had more....

And it's easier to fit in when not working :-(.

We were 5 for lunch.

No olive likers after all.
The one who didn't care for beets was pleased to have none on her polenta.
I also defrosted some of last summer's strawberries with a bit of sugar.

In the end, there was enough food, though the only thing I had a lot left of was the rice, which can be reused into a savory rice pudding, or some kind of stir-fried rice.
