Farm share, week 7

  • eight ears of corn (from another farmer, actually)
  • an almost-pint of grape tomatoes (large enough that I thought they were small romas)
  • a pound of green peppers (Treacle_Well, will you be at work tomorrow?)
  • three handfuls of basil
  • a bunch of chard (I chose one that was mostly red, rather than mostly yellow, just because they're pretty)
  • 1.8 pounds of summer squash and/or cucumbers (I took all summer squash)
  • a pound of eggplant, which translates into one medium (I took one of the white-and-light-purple ones, rather than the usual dark-purple-unto-black)
  • a pound of beans (wax or purple; I took all purple, partly because, well, purple! And partly because I have a bit of a mental block about wax beans. Maybe it's just the name...)
  • two pounds of new potatoes (purple, red, or yellow; I got a mixture)

Yay for lots of purple vegetables! Also, I'm glad I picked up some feta yesterday; tomato-basil salad is definitely going to be on the menu.

Absent: lettuce. And I don't mind at all; it's really only useful for salads, and I've been finding it hard to get motivation to make salad for one.

Yay purple! I adore purple. (I also like making puns about "am segulah.")

Purple was my first favorite color (though I'm glad I didn't end up with a purple room like I wanted at the time :-). And it's such an unlikely color for produce that I love getting it even more.

And it makes me think of "gezer tzar me'od"...)
