Farm share, week 8

Two bags this week, and will be until close to the end of the season.
  • a bunch of cilantro (I left it for some other shareholder, since I can't even deal with the smell of it fresh)
  • a head of cabbage
  • a green pepper
  • a cubanelle pepper
  • a bag of mixed tomatoes (a pint of mixed cherry tomatoes (yellow, orange (sungolds!), red), plus three yellow tomatoes, and two plum tomatoes)
  • four ears of corn (oddly, with the tips cut off)
  • a small eggplant
  • an onion
  • a stalk of broccoli
  • two cucumbers
  • a large head of garlic

Porch note: squirrels seem to have found my porch, for the first time. Some tomatoes have been picked (and left on the railing), and I came back from a couple of days away to find a pot of 'Asian greens' (never did figure out quite what they were) toppled and completely uprooted. *sigh* Does anyone know what I can do for counter-squirrel measures?

And in a completely unrelated note, I'd like to point out that Miss_Chance is printing up (probably canvas and gusseted) bags with the Fourth Amendment on them, and would be happy to sell more...

I want eggplant! Sorry about the cilantro. I love the stuff.

A friend of mine who isn't Miss_chance is also having bags like that printed up. Good idea. Wonder if anyone used them.

If I could hand off the cilantro immediately, I'd give it to you. I just don't want to bring it into the house if I can avoid it.

I hope your eggplant desires are filled in next week's share.

And somehow I'm not surprised that a number of people are printing bags with the Fourth Amendment on it. I just wish it weren't so needed.

bubblebabble's mom describes this week's farmshare as a "metric ton of cilantro."
i think we should start handing it out on the street. like a lemonade stand.

You could make some kind of cilantro pesto, or something, if you can abide the smell...

While I don't hate the stuff, I don't particularly like it, either. So I'd still wind up just passing out the pesto on the street. (Psst, hey, you, yeah, you, you want some pesto? I can hook you up.)

Save it for gifting the cilantro-loving friends?
