Last night I got a letter from $former_employer, about money in their 'save for shares' program, a way for employees to buy discounted shares with regular paycheck deductions. The buying, however, happens once a year, generally in August. Which means that when I left $former_employer last July, there was money in the account, which never made its way to me. The letter apologized, explaining that they were switching brokerage houses, so this got lost in the shuffle (ok, not that I'd noticed. Still, a year later?). Which means I'm getting a check for $720 sometime soon. I'm not sure if it's really 'found,' since it was money out of my paycheck, but it feels that way. What to do with it.....?

I saw some "french door" fridges a couple of weeks ago, and though they're very pretty, when I thought about it more, it wouldn't work for me, partly because the shape of my kitchen really makes having a door opening from one side much more useful, and partly because I'd feel I'd have to remember which side of the fridge I'd put things on.

My dream fridge is definitely a freezer on the bottom, though.

you know... there was one right next to my lust object that fits your bill. and the price is much, much closer to $720 than the one i want is.

The ones at Sears looked vaguely affordable, too (though the friend I was shopping with ended up getting hers at Home Depot, 'cause it was on sale, or rebate, or whatever. Cheaper, anyway.).

I wish I knew why there's so much mental energy involved in getting stuff like this done. It seems reasonably easy: decide which kind to buy, have it delivered, they take the old one away (if not Freecycled). Boom, new fridge. And yet, I waffle over doing it for weeks and weeks. Stupid brain.

big money expenditures take up brain power. unless you have lots of money to toss around, which most of us don't.

if you decide you want to do this and you want moral support... i adore shopping. seriously. it's a sickness.
