Short stuff

I microwaved a sweet potato for breakfast yesterday, and realized it was the first time I'd used the microwave since before Pesach.

Other firsts yesterday: a phone call from my parents... in Israel. They rented a 'pelefon'.
I redeemed a savings bond (the one given me for my bat mitzvah, that had fallen behind a drawer and discovered by later owners of the house) and got a CD (the banking kind :-). (For future reference, the feds have a bond calculator to find the current value.)
And a very little boy created a concave down parabola that landed on my rug. I covered the area with baking soda, and hopefully that's enough.

There was a 'fair' at work, with information about insurance and so on. I got information, had a couple of quick tests (non-fasting glucose and cholesterol), and won a book.

Last night's dinner: I cooked a cup of the Japonica rice mixture (it looks like very short grain brown and black rices), then added sauteed onion and zucchini, a can of chickpeas, a can of black olives, and a pint of the tomato sauce I made this summer. It needed something, so I added a bit of salt, but that wasn't rounded enough. I was too hungry to figure it out then, but I think adding preserved lemon would've worked (alas that I'm out), or some parmesan. And some spinach would've been good, too.

Undersleptness make life seem more boring.
