A crock pot would work, I suppose but (a) I don't have one, and (b) the flavor of the soup will degrade (in my opinion, anyway) when kept warm for 18 hours or so.

I know we'll be eating inside if it's precipitating, but generally cold is not enough to make it offensive enough to eat inside. Though it might be a faster meal than otherwise :-).
