I had to Google; my little bit of Latin is incredibly rusty (I thought "sword" was gladiolus, or something like that.). Not that I had so much of it to begin with (if only I'd been allowed to take Latin 3... :-)

"By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty" is decent. We could use to remember the liberty part these days...
